Continuing our ongoing conversation, we have more news to share and a wonderful opportunity to connect with many of you via the Web Camps events. We are witnessing excellent uptake of the WebMatrix tools with over 100k downloads in first few weeks! WebMatrix has been built from the grounds-up for the pure web developer, whose focus is solely on building a compelling, feature complete web applications. WebMatrix introduces new Razor syntax and helpers, which simplifies routine tasks like integrating Twitter feeds, without requiring any code. A list of all WebMatrix helpers is available online for reference.

TechEd India 2011

After concluding the Web Camps events, the Microsoft India Web platform team is focusing all its energies on TechEd 2011. As some of you may know, TechEd is the biggest confluence for IT professionals in India with over 3000 onsite participants and 100k+ online participants. This year the focus is on the Web platform across all 3 days of the event and we have exciting line up of speakers, technologies and announcements.

On the technology front, we continue to see huge momentum with the release of Internet Explorer 9 Release Candidate and some 2 million downloads within 48 hours . Earlier this month, we had announced a total of 36 million IE9 downloads and an increase in the IE browser usage share worldwide. Locally, we continue to work with multiple partners, many we’ll showcase at TechEd, to drive adoption of HTML5 and the power of hardware acceleration.

Internet Explorer 9 hits RC Milestone

IE 9 Release Candidate, a feature complete version of the browser was released on 10th of February and is available for download at www.beautyoftheweb.com. IE9 Platform Previews garnered fantastic reviews, and had over 25 million downloads of the IE9 Beta itself making it our fastest adopted browser beta of all time. IE9 Beta has been downloaded about 1.5 times more than IE8 Beta over the same time period. When adjusted for the installed base of PCs that can run IE9, IE9 Beta has actually been downloaded at a rate of almost 3 times that of IE8 Beta
